The Finnish Association of Translators and Interpreters was founded in 1955, when many translators felt that their individual efforts were not enough in protecting their rights. As a cultural organisation, one of SKTL’s primary goals is to underscore the position of translation and interpreting as a part of Finnish culture.

You can join SKTL during your studies or later, and we will remain here to support you throughout your career. Membership will underline your position as a representative of a respected profession. We listen carefully to translation and interpreting professionals, and run our activities accordingly. Members can directly influence SKTL’s decision-making via the sections and local branches.
